HGTV’S 2018 Dream Home is in Our Backyard
HGTV has released the details of their 2018 “Dream Home” Giveaway, and as King 5 reports, it’s the first year a Washington state residence has been selected in the 22-year history of the contest. The home is situated in Gig Harbor, and offers 4 bedrooms and 3.5 baths overlooking the picturesque Henderson Bay. King 5 writes that its interior features include “a cocktail lounge with a built-in bar and a spacious master bedroom with a walk-in closet” while the outside boasts “a covered pergola, upper deck and lower patio dining areas, a built-in grill and a backyard fire pit.”
HGTV writes that the interior design is “characterized by angular, asymmetrical architecture and a unique mashup of rugged, coastal and modern materials.” Interior Designer Brian Patrick Flynn updated the maritime interior with the use of soothing shades and softened the structure of the house “with expert layering of textures, colors, patterns and shapes to add warmth and personality.”
Flynn took viewers on a short tour of the outdoor living spaces, with he says were designed with “comfortable seating and amazing views” in mind. He notes that the retractable pergola is excellent for the climate of the Pacific Northwest and that the home’s next resident will love their close-up view of Henderson Bay.
The “Dream Home” Giveaway runs from December 27th through February 16th in a prize package valued at $1.8 million that includes the home, a brand-new Honda Accord, and $250,000 cash.
